Righteousness!

The UNrighteousness in our world

smothers

and sickens

and depresses

Everywhere

unrighteousness

Unholiness

Evil

That is why

I choose this day

to SHOUT in words

my adoration

of my righteous God!!

His righteousness

obliterates the darkness

In fact

His righteousness

brings out the grotesque hideousness

of evil

and shows it for what it is

before holy God

We would do well to run toward the LIGHT

and not the dark

But the darkness pulls at the heels

of human frailty

dragging away those meant to be Light-Bearers,

Divine image-bearers

into tunnels

and holes

desperate

and depraved

feeling as if hope

is not for them

…but it is

Hope was always meant

for desperate

depraved

depressed hearts

Righteous, beautiful God

provides that HOPE

I choose!

to stand with hands held high

in praise of the One and Only

righteous all-on-His-own

God Almighty!

His white

and His red

changed my black

to white pristine

My Jesus

MY Jesus

is

righteous

holy

and

perfect

and His justice demands

evil answers to righteousness

I will stand in the spotless robe

lovingly given to me

sacrificially

And I will shout

and whisper

and repeat

“I praise You righteous God,

and I will tell of Your righteousness

throughout this life

You have given to me!”

My tongue will tell of Your righteous acts all day long…

– Psalm 71:24 (NIV)

He made Christ who knew no sin to [judicially] be sin on our behalf, so that in Him we would become the righteousness of God [that is, we would be made acceptable to Him and placed in a right relationship with Him by His gracious lovingkindness].

– 2 Corinthians 5:21 (AMP)

Yes, everything else is worthless when compared with the infinite value of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord. For His sake I have discarded everything else, counting it all as garbage, so that I could gain Christ and become one with Him. I no longer count on my own righteousness through obeying the law; rather, I become righteous through faith in Christ. For God’s way of making us right with Himself depends on faith.

– Philippians 3:8,9 (NLT)

I will give thanks to the Lord because of His righteousness;
I will sing the praises of the name of the Lord Most High.

– Psalm 7:17 (NIV)

Humility

The greatest test of whether the holiness we profess to seek or to attain is truth and life will be whether it produces an increasing humility in us. In man, humility is the one thing needed to allow God’s holiness to dwell in him and shine through him. The chief mark of counterfeit holiness is lack of humility. The holiest will be the humblest.

– Andrew Murray

Since God chose you to be the holy people He loves, you must clothe yourselves with tenderhearted mercy, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience.

–  Colossians 3:12 (NLT)

They must not slander anyone and must avoid quarreling. Instead, they should be gentle and show true humility to everyone.

–  Titus 3:2 (NLT)

If you are wise and understand God’s ways, prove it by living an honorable life, doing good works with the humility that comes from wisdom.

–  James 3:13 (NLT)

…Whoever is the least among you is the greatest.

– Luke 9:48 (NLT)

Holy

I find myself searching….

searching for words that come anywhere close

to describing You

God.

I repeat so many of the same descriptors

over and over

and over and over

and they always seem to want for more.

Wonderful

Amazing

Beautiful

Incredible

And You are all those things

and yet…

My mouth and mind get frustrated

that I can’t come up with more

to describe You and how much I think of You.

To worship you.

And then I remember

how in Your Word

it says that the the winged ones surround Your throne

repeating “Hoy, Holy, Holy…”

over and over

and over and over

A reverence

An awe

A repetition of what and who You are.

Holy

Sacred

Perfect

Righteous

And I think about the repetitious worship

of the mysterious ones in heaven

and it seems to me

that there just aren’t enough words

to describe perfect Divinity

to ascribe perfect worth to You

and we repeat and we repeat

for all eternity

and our minds are blown

trying to fathom

You.

 Holy God.

Holy

Holy

Holy

Holy

Holy

Holy

Holy

Holy

   Holy…

…I saw the Lord. He was sitting on a lofty throne, and the train of his robe filled the Temple.  Attending him were mighty seraphim, each having six wings. With two wings they covered their faces, with two they covered their feet, and with two they flew.  They were calling out to each other,

‘Holy, holy, holy is the Lord of Heaven’s Armies!
The whole earth is filled with his glory!’
Their voices shook the Temple to its foundations, and the entire building was filled with smoke.

– Isaiah 6:1-3 (NLT)

…I saw a throne in heaven and someone sitting on it.  The one sitting on the throne was as brilliant as gemstones—like jasper and carnelian. And the glow of an emerald circled his throne like a rainbow.  Twenty-four thrones surrounded him, and twenty-four elders sat on them. They were all clothed in white and had gold crowns on their heads.  From the throne came flashes of lightning and the rumble of thunder. And in front of the throne were seven torches with burning flames. This is the sevenfold Spirit[b] of God.  In front of the throne was a shiny sea of glass, sparkling like crystal.

In the center and around the throne were four living beings, each covered with eyes, front and back.  The first of these living beings was like a lion; the second was like an ox; the third had a human face; and the fourth was like an eagle in flight.  Each of these living beings had six wings, and their wings were covered all over with eyes, inside and out. Day after day and night after night they keep on saying,

“Holy, holy, holy is the Lord God, the Almighty—
the one who always was, who is, and who is still to come.”
Whenever the living beings give glory and honor and thanks to the one sitting on the throne (the one who lives forever and ever), the twenty-four elders fall down and worship the one sitting on the throne (the one who lives forever and ever). And they lay their crowns before the throne and say,

“You are worthy, O Lord our God,
to receive glory and honor and power.
For you created all things,
and they exist because you created what you pleased.”

– Revelation 4:2-11 (NLT)
